Late to the Party - Goodbye GFC

I finally had a light bulb moment and realized what all the fuss was about with GFC being discontinued.  I use blogger, but many of the blogs that I adore and follow do not.  I have been frantically updating my blog and now have a link to my RSS feed.  If you want to stay connected to Beachreader, please connect via my RSS feed.  If you would rather connect via e-mail, that option is also available.  I will not be using Google+.  I have fundamental security issues (let me rephrase that) my husband who is in charge of security, safety and identity where he works has serious issues with Google+ therefore I have issues and have been gently asked by him not to use it.

I have also been busy transferring all the sites that I follow, connecting with them via RSS, so that when I wake up the morning of March 1 they are still with me. So if you haven't heard, Google Friend Connect is being discontinued on all non-Blogger blogs as of March 1, 2012. Are you ready?

  1. As I use blogger, I will still be able to follow you by GFC. Is that right?

    1. From what I understand GFC will be discontinued for non-bloggers March 1st and for bloggers sometime after that (within a month or two), but they could pull the plug anytime. They are discontinuing several Google products and streamlining them into Google+

  2. So the follower's widget on blogger will no longer work? This whole thing has me somewhat confused :(

  3. I follow blogs through Google Reader; I don't think that is going away, so the gazillion blogs will continue to be updated through that feed! If you don't use it, definitely check it out.
